How to cancel Livestorm before it renews

Livestorm's paid plans run for a year and renew on their own. Its terms of sale set a notice period of 90 days before the renewal date, and renewals come up again and again in the critical reviews on this site: 7 of the 32 mention renewals, cancellations, or refunds. This page sets out the rules from Livestorm's own terms of sale and help center, then the steps.

How to cancel in your Livestorm account

Only an Admin or the Workspace Owner can manage billing. On an Enterprise plan, the help center sends you to your account manager instead. For self-serve plans, the steps are:

  1. Go to Settings > Billing.
  2. Click Manage Subscription.
  3. In the side panel, click Cancel plan.
  4. Read the cancellation notice and tick the box to confirm it.
  5. Pick a cancellation reason.
  6. Click Confirm cancellation.
  7. Check that the Billing tab shows the plan as cancelled.

Your renewal date is on the same Billing page. Paid features stay on until it, and you can reactivate the plan from there if you change your mind.

Give Livestorm notice early, and get it in writing

The help center and the terms of sale describe the deadline differently. The help center says to cancel before your renewal date. The terms of sale, which govern the contract, set the notice period at 90 days before the anniversary date. Reviewers describe renewals they didn't expect:

“Their renewals process is incredibly frustrating. 90 days notice for a webinar platform, with no warning of it coming until after the cancellation window had passed”Brandi E., G2, April 2026
“Cycle 1: we cancelled within the notice period. It was never recorded in our account. The renewal reminders, meanwhile, went to email addresses we had flagged as inactive.”Alice Sebban, Trustpilot, September 2026

The safe route is to cancel in Billing more than 90 days before your renewal date, then email help@livestorm.co (the address the help center gives for billing questions) asking for written confirmation. Keep a screenshot of the cancelled status and the reply. The day you subscribe, put the 90-day cutoff in a shared calendar rather than waiting for a reminder.

What you lose when you cancel Livestorm

When the paid term ends, the workspace drops to the Free plan, with its limits and a limited view of your statistics. The help center lists what Livestorm then deletes: events and their sessions, external speakers and registrants, replays, chat messages, polls and questions, and instant meeting rooms. It says event data is permanently deleted 15 days after cancellation. Team members, integrations, custom emails, and workspace settings stay as long as you keep the workspace.

Download the replays you want and export registrant and attendance data before the paid term ends.

Livestorm refunds, price rises, and upgrades

There are no refunds for unused credits or for leaving early, except where mandatory law requires one. Renewal prices can rise: the terms add 7% a year by default, and Livestorm has changed its pricing model more than once, which some long-time customers felt at renewal:

“they decided to drastically increase our annual renewal price, from just under £3,000 per year, to $13,000 per year, or $7,000 if we commit to a three year contract.”Mobciral, Trustpilot, April 2024

Read the renewal quote before the 90-day cutoff passes. Upgrading mid-year starts a new 12-month cycle at the new tier's full price and moves your renewal date, with unused credits carried over. Downgrades only take effect at renewal, so a smaller plan has to be chosen before the next term starts. See the current packs on our Livestorm pricing page.

If you're in the EU: the Data Act and Livestorm

Livestorm's terms of sale are written for business customers and governed by French law, with French courts handling disputes (article 16). They also refer to the EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854), which gives customers of cloud services, including software you use online, a right to switch providers. Under it, the notice period for starting a switch can't exceed two months (article 25), and until January 12, 2027 a provider's switching charges can't exceed its own costs of the switch, after which they are banned (article 29). Fixed-term contracts with proportionate early termination penalties remain allowed (recital 89).

Livestorm's article 5.1 says you can end the subscription to switch providers, but that you still owe the fees for the rest of the committed term plus a fixed fee of 50% of the annual subscription amount to cover the data transfer. Whether a flat fee like that fits article 29's cost limit is a question for a lawyer; this page is general information, not legal advice.

If you're leaving because of price, renewals, or a missing feature, our Livestorm alternatives guide matches each reason to the platform that fixes it.

Livestorm cancellation FAQ

Can you cancel Livestorm anytime?+

You can cancel in Billing whenever you like, but that stops the next renewal, not the current term. Paid plans run for 12 months and can't be ended early, and Livestorm's terms of sale set a notice period of 90 days before the renewal date.

Does Livestorm give refunds?+

Not as a rule. The terms of sale rule out refunds for unused credits, early termination, or lower usage, except where mandatory law requires one, and the help center says you won't be refunded if you cancel after your renewal date.

What is the deadline to cancel Livestorm?+

90 days before the anniversary date of your subscription, for the first year and for every renewal. The renewal date is shown in Account settings > Billing.

What happens to my recordings if I cancel Livestorm?+

Paid features stay on until the billing cycle ends, then the workspace moves to the Free plan. Livestorm deletes events, registrants, replays, chat, polls, and questions, and its help center says event data is permanently deleted 15 days after cancellation, so download replays and exports first.

Can I pause my Livestorm subscription?+

No. Livestorm's help center says there is no pause option; you can cancel and subscribe again later.
